Well, I have officially bought and made my list for everything I need to bring with me! It really is starting to feel real, but also surreal if that makes sense.
I reached out to CCCU about housing because I chose to have homestay accommodations, but had not gotten matched with a family. They said that overall, finding homestay accommodations became really hard after COVID because a lot of families pulled out (understandably in my opinion). They offered to house me in a dorm while they try to find a homestay for me, which I was fine with!
But then, it turns out that the group I am going with was given priority to match with a homestay, and I just got an email saying that they have figured out my homestay accommodation, and that I will most likely be in a homestay accommodation with another person from my group who is also vegetarian. It is not official yet, but I feel like they really are making us a priority and I am just so excited to finally be there!
I feel good about going now; I feel like everything is figured out. I got a bunch of books with advice for Americans in England as well as some vocab books explaining the difference between American words and British words. I am going to do some more packing tonight as well. Things are looking up!
